MTV Lebanon receives yet another award.
Australian deputy premier Ben Carroll, who assumed five ministerial posts including Industry, Innovation, Labor, Public Works, and Public Transport, led an official appreciation ceremony in the Government headquarters of the Australian state of Victoria. Moreover, on behalf of the Government, Carroll presented a commemorative award to MTV Lebanon's Chairman and CEO, Michel El Murr, in recognition of the station's leadership in the field of media and its contribution to strengthen Lebanon's international relations, especially with Australia.
Carroll said: "Journalism is so important between our two nations, we know Australia and Lebanon have such a rich shared cultural history together, and we have to acknowledge that a large part of said history goes to journalism because journalism is the voice of reason and argument and helps us communicate with our respective communities about the economic relations as well as the local success stories we share, so that our two nations continue to grow and prosper together."
He went on praising El Murr and MTV saying, "the awards that have been recognized by Mr. Murr overseas at Washington D.C. as well as here in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia are a clear sign that MTV is playing an important role in letting the people's voices be heard, in addition to ensuring that journalism continues to be a very strong profession, and continues to be a voice for reason, independence, and truth."
Carroll and El Murr discussed joint Australian-Lebanese projects and ways to strengthen their relations through the active role of media. This discussion took place in the presence of prominent figures in the fields of diplomacy and business within the Lebanese community in Australia.
The ceremony was concluded with a lunch in honor of Mr. Murr.
