General Security Chief, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, said on Thursday that the Lebanese State will restore its authority over the Bekaa and Baalbek.
General Ibrahim spoke at the inauguration of two new centers of the General Security service in the Bekaa and Baalbek, in the presence of outgoing ministers of Agriculture and Industry, Ghazi Zeaiter and Hussein Hajj Hassan, as well as deputies Ali Mokdad, Ibrahim Mussawi, Al-Walid Succarieh, Ihab Hamadeh and Antoine Habchi.
MP Mokdad said, on this occasion, that the opening of the centers of General Security in the Bekaa will strengthen the pillars of stability in the region. "We support this constructive approach and tell our people that we will face together the terrorist plots," he said.
Minister Zeaiter, for his part, said that ministers, deputies and political forces in the region would be able to support and encourage any move to lift the deprivation off this region, far from any escalation and discord.
General Ibrahim, in turn, said he was confident of the success of the security plan put in place by the Lebanese State for the Bekaa, saying that the State would "return permanently to this region".
"We are confident of the success of the security plan in which the General Security participates effectively and the inhabitants of the Bekaa will ensure the conditions for its success," he said.
He went on to point out that the Bekaa was not a safe haven for criminals and terrorists and will remain a fortress in the fight against them.
General Ibrahim finally warned against vengeance between rival clans.
