Lebanese Forces party leader, Samir Geagea, stressed that "there is no time limit for premier-designate Saad Hariri, and no one can withdraw the designation from him," warning against tampering with the constitution or the existing norms.
Geagea urged "the President of the Republic for a swift intervention and rescue operation to stop the series of confrontations between Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil and everyone else."
"Hariri will not withdraw, neither will he form a government under pressure, and therefore all actions that aim at obstruction will be in vain," Geagea said in an interview with the Kuwaiti daily Al-Rai.
"It is very surprising how every time we and others try to pacify the situation, Bassil blows it up," he said.
"Unfortunately his [Bassil's] speech is full of inaccuracies, and one almost cannot draw a single accurate thing," he went on to say.
"We are committed to the Understanding of Maarab, and if Bassil wishes to annul it, he is free to do so. We have utter respect and appreciation to the President of the Republic and our best wishes are for the success of this mandate. What undermines the mandate the most are Bassil's actions, and I say this all too regrettably," the LF leader concluded.
