On the occasion of the 13th anniversary of Samir Geagea's release from prison, the Lebanese Forces Party held its annual dinner at the Edde Sands complex under the patronage of the party's leader Samir Geagea, represented by Information Minister Melhem Riachy.
In his speech, Minister Riachy said that in accordance with the recent parliamentary elections’ results, the Lebanese Forces would not accept to be represented by less than five ministers in the next government.
"The LF comprises 31% of the Strong Republic Bloc and the FPM makes up 50%of the Strong Lebanon Bloc, including friends and allies. However, 30% implies the third and one third of 15 is 5. Hence, the LF cannot accept less than its right to 5 cabinet members in accordance with its political weight and size," Minister Riachy explained.
Riachy added that "what matters to us [Lebanese Forces] is to be represented in the next government according to our right."
Finally, Riachy highlighted that the Maarab Agreement will remain and political agreements are periodic.
