Hezbollah Leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah indicated on Friday that significant progress had been made in the formation process of the new government, and that pending matters were related to the distribution of ministerial portfolios.
"It is clear that there is tremendous optimism and there is a significant progress at the level of the government formation," Nasrallah said.
"It is wrong to set a deadline to announce the formation of the government," he added.
Nasrallah spoke today via a giant screen during the celebration of the silver jubilee of Al-Mahdi Islamic schools, at Sayyed Asshohada Complex, Roueis.
"Iran does not meddle in the government issue in any way whatsoever," the Secretary General of Hezbollah said.
"Hezbollah does not interfere in the distribution of shares inside the new government. We do not dictate on any political force in Lebanon our will regarding the government," he continued.
"I cannot tell the Lebanese whether the obstacles to the government formation are external or not," he indicated.
"There are still pending matters pertaining to the ministerial portfolios," he said.
Nasrallah went on to say that the government must be formed because the country needed one.
He also explained that the initial complications occurred because there was no agreement over unified criteria to form the Cabinet.
"Modesty and cooperation are required from everybody; the Shia duo have been modest since day one," he underlined.
Nasrallah refused to link the political situation in Lebanon to the recent events in Iraq.
"What happened in Iraq is a political defeat for the Americans," he said.
"It was the will of the Iraqis that had contributed to forming their government and not a US-Iranian agreement. Those speaking of a US-Iranian agreement are idiots and ignore the reality of things," he maintained.
On the situation in Gaza, Nasrallah saw what had happened for the past few days was very crucial for the Strip and the region.
"Palestinians in Gaza have no other choice but resistance and confrontation," he said.
As to the case of missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Nasrallah said that US President Donald Trump's administration and leaders in Saudi Arabia were before a real crisis and in a critical situation.
Addressing the Saudi leaders, he said: "Today is the right time to take a brave position and cease the war on Yemen. You must realize that the international cover for the war on Yemen has started to fall apart."
"You must allow the Yemenis to head toward the political solution," he stressed, warning of intransigence regarding the war on Yemen.
