Caretaker Foreign Minister, Gebran Bassil, on Tuesday handed the special representative of the Sultan of Oman, Deputy Prime Minister Assaad bin Tariq Al-Said, an invitation addressed to Sultan Qaboos to attend the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, hosted by Beirut in January.
During the meeting, Bassil and the Omani Deputy PM agreed to adopt practical measures to develop the bilateral ties and trade, starting with the reactivation of the direct air route between Beirut and Muscat, and the revival of the joint committees.
Bassil had earlier held talks with his Omani counterpart Yusuf bin Alawi, whom he invited to visit Lebanon.
Separately, Bassil hailed the relations between Lebanon and Oman in a tweet.
"His Highness Assaad bin Tariq Al-Said has told me about the years he spent while studying in Lebanon. I sensed readiness to receive and attract more Lebanese potentials," Bassil tweeted, adding that Lebanon and Oman share moderation.
