Former Minister Elias al-Murr was re-elected as the Head of the Interpol Foundation for a second term of seven years until 20 November 2025.
Murr and Interpol General Secretary Jürgen Stoke signed a new agreement between the Interpol Foundation and Organization on Tuesday, which includes restructuring and development of their joint partnership. The agreement was unanimously voted for by the 192 world countries of the Interpol General Assembly.
In a press conference following his reelection, Murr reaffirmed Interpol's "absolute support to fighting terrorism and organized crime at all levels."
Thanking the General Assembly and the 192 member states for their unanimous vote on the new agreement, Murr said: "We have now entered a new phase with overwhelming international support; thus, shouldering greater responsibilities that require additional efforts due to the sensitive security situation in many parts of the world."
"I hope that we will be up to the confidence entrusted in us by the General Assembly," he added.
Murr concluded by emphasizing the Interpol Foundation's strong determination to pursue its support to the efforts of combating terrorism and organized crime across the world.
