After successive judicial developments, the French car manufacturer, Renault, recently opened new files related to the case of Lebanese businessman, Carlos Ghosn.
Sources close to the Union of Arab Journalists and the Lebanese Press Syndicate hinted at the possibility of postponing or canceling the Support Day for Carlos Ghosn's Case, which was being prepared in Lebanon, Japan and the entire world in coordination with the Lebanese diaspora. The same sources also disclosed that preparations for making this event happen and succeed have slowed down in pace, but did not stop completely.
Imad Ajami, coordinator of the Central Committee supporting this case, told MTV Website that the reason behind the slowdown was "logistic" and that "contacts will be made" especially after the meeting he will hold with Ghosn at prison early next week.
"Ghosn's two daughters, Maya and Nadine, came to Japan to visit him," Ajami added. "It was the first time Ghosn meets any of his relatives since his arrest on November 19." He noted that both Maya and Nadine were expected to leave Japan later this week.
Ajami also denied the rumors about investigations being conducted by Japanese authorities with Ghosn's family members. "These are mere interpretations, nothing more," he said. "Some parties seek to spread such rumors for blackmail purposes."
"The Central Committee has been able to convey and defend Ghosn's views without violating the Japanese judicial course," Ajami said, noting that "non-residents of Japan made a slip by giving advice that would harm Ghosn's case instead of helping it."
He added that, "Contacts with Ghosn's family have not stopped and I will coordinate with them to launch a support day for him."
As for the new file opened by Renault, Ajami pointed that "this matter is related to studying Ghosn's entitlements to the company, such as compensation and end-of-service expenses."
Citing sources in Renault, Le Figaro newspaper reported today that Renault is investigating a file related to Ghosn's marriage to Carole Nahas in the Palace of Versailles, which had cost a large amount of money. Le Figaro stated that, according to this file, "Ghosn had not spent money on the marriage from his own personal account, but from Renault's account."
The newspaper also reported that Renault is opening other files too, which will be revealed in the next stage.
