Prime Minister Saad Hariri's press office published a press release on Sunday, in which he described the drones incident as "an open assault" on Lebanese sovereignty and a clear violation of Resolution 1701.
"Prime Minister Saad Hariri described the crash of two Israeli drones over the southern suburbs of Beirut as a blatant aggression against Lebanese sovereignty and a clear violation of Resolution 1701.
Commenting on the attack, he said that he would remain in consultation with the President of the Republic and the Speaker to determine the next steps, especially as the new aggression that was accompanied by heavy hovering of enemy aircraft over Beirut and the suburbs, constitutes a threat to regional stability and an attempt to push the situation towards further tension.
Hariri concluded by saying that the international community and the friends of Lebanon in the world have a responsibility to protect resolution 1701 from the dangers of the Israeli violations and their repercussions.
The Lebanese government will assume its full responsibilities in this regard, to ensure not being dragged toward any hostile plans that threaten security, stability and national sovereignty."
