Prime Minister Saad Hariri affirmed his firm support for the judiciary to carry out its tasks in accordance with the Constitution and the laws.
Hariri met today with the President of the Higher Judicial Council Judge Suhail Abboud, the State Prosecutor Ghassan Oueidat and the Head of the State Shura Council Judge Fadi Elias, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Judge Mahmoud Makkiye, on the occasion of their recent appointment to their new positions.
Hariri said: "We hope that the new appointments in the judiciary will give impetus to the judiciary, leading to a qualitative leap in its work."
He expressed the government's readiness to cooperate with all steps that aim to enhance the independence of the judiciary and restore the confidence of the citizens in it.
He also voiced his understanding of the judges' concerns, stressing the government's readiness to discuss and dispel these concerns, taking into consideration the current situation in Lebanon. He stressed his desire to follow up the reform to be undertaken at the judicial level, his readiness to hold periodic meetings to assess it, and the clear intention to lift the cover from any perpetrator, regardless of his position.
