Industry Minister Wael Abou Faour inspected Sunday a number of slaughterhouses on the Litani River Basin, in the context of his commitment to reaching "zero industrial pollution" along the Litani.
Abu Faour said in his tour that "slaughterhouses are among the prerogatives of the Ministry of Industry," noting that "there are slaughterhouses that meet the required conditions, but there are significant damages caused by a number of slaughterhouses that do not meet the necessary specifications and contribute to polluting the Litani River with their wastes."
"We have issued warnings to these slaughterhouses, and very soon we will start taking action against the violators and closing them down, if they do not comply with the required specifications and conditions," the Minister asserted.
