President Michel Aoun left Rafic Hariri International Airport at 10 am on Sunday, heading to New York to preside over the Lebanese delegation at the opening of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly.
The official delegation includes: Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Minister Gebran Bassil, who will later join the delegation, State Minister for Presidential Affairs Salim Jreissati, Lebanon's Permanent Representative at the United Nations Amal Mdalalli, Lebanon's Ambassador to Washington Gabi Issa, Principle Advisor to the President Mireille Aoun Hashem, along with a number of diplomats, administrators and media representatives.
The President is scheduled to deliver Lebanon's address before the UN General Assembly on Wednesday morning (New York time), in the afternoon (Beirut local time), before meeting UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
President Aoun will also hold meetings with a number of Arab and foreign heads of state and international organizations' officials.
It is to note that the President's participation in the UN General Assembly this year coincides with the recent endorsement of 165 UN member states of Aoun's initiative to establish the "Human Academy for Dialogue and Convergence" in Lebanon, receiving wide support by the international community to that effect.
