President Michel Aoun presided Thursday morning over the military parade marking Lebanon's 76th Independence Day held at the Defense Ministry, in the presence of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Saad Hariri, as well as Army Commander General Joseph Aoun and scores of Lebanon's former Presidents, former Speakers, former Prime Ministers and various Cabinet ministers, Parliament members, senior political, military, religious, judicial, diplomatic, economic and media officials and prominent dignitaries.
In this context, the President continued to receive a congratulatory letters on the 76th Independence Day from kings and leaders of Arab and Western countries, stressing their "full support to Lebanon and its people and the strengthening of bilateral relations in all fields."
Queen Elizabeth wished "happiness and prosperity of the people of Lebanon and the coming year," while the Italian president encouraged the Lebanese political parties to adopt a reform plan that could guarantee a better future, saying Italy "remains committed to strengthening the work of Lebanese institutions, security and economy in this country."
For his part, the Swiss President stressed that his country "supports Lebanon in these difficult circumstances, with the aim of reaching an understanding and national reconciliation."
The Polish president said his country was committed to defending Lebanon's unity, independence and stability.
The President also received congratulatory messages from the Emir of Qatar, the King of Norway, the Presidents of Romania, Ukraine, Serbia and Cuba, as well as the former Prime Minister of Iraq.
