Martyrs' Square in Downtown Beirut witnessed a civil parade on Friday afternoon marking Lebanon's 76th Independence Day, as a large crowd of citizens gathered on both sides of the road to watch the 41 teams participating from different Lebanese regions.
The parade began by paying tribute to the fallen martyrs, followed by the Lebanese national anthem, a horse parade, after which the civil groups began to march as "regiments", which included: retired military personnel, teachers, environmentalists, lawyers, students, mothers, parents, doctors, media, experts, combat units, agriculture field, engineers, industrialists, transportation, laborers, women's rights bodies, craftsmen, trade, artists, businessmen, innovators, energy sector, sports, tourism, human rights, pedestrians, expatriates, musicians, activists, and groups that represented the south, north, Bekaa, Mount Lebanon, and Beirut regions.
Each regiment presented its notion in a special way, by creating demand slogans in line with its function, accompanied by a music band which played national and revolutionary songs in the background.
