Parliament Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Tuesday held a meeting at his Ain el-Tineh residence with the Ambassadors of the Quintet Committee.
The meeting was attended by French Ambassador Hervé Magro, KSA Ambassador Walid Bukhari, Egyptian Ambassador Alaa Moussa, Qatari Ambassador Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and the Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Lebanon, Amanda Pilz, representing US Ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson.
Discussions during the meeting reportedly touched on the general situation and political developments, especially the presidential election entitlement and the outcome of the meetings held by the Quintet committee’s ambassadors with the parliamentary blocs and political forces.
Following the meeting, Egyptian Ambassador Moussa affirmed that "the meeting was positive and represents a new step that can be built upon towards electing a president."
"There will be further consultations in the coming days with parliamentary blocs,” Moussa added.
On the other hand, Speaker Berri received in Ain El-Tineh, Caretaker Minister of Public Works and Transport, Ali Hamieh.
Discussions reportedly touched on the country’s general conditions and matters related to the work programs of the Ministry of Public Works, especially the conditions of public roads and international highways and the project to resume work on the Shabriha Highway far-reaching the city of Tyre.
Berri later received Acting Director General of General Security, Brigadier General Elias Baissari, with whom he broached the security situation in the country.
Among Speaker Berri’s itinerant visitors for today had been former MP Samir Al-Jisr, with whom he tackled the general situation, political developments and developmental affairs.
