Development and Liberation parliamentary bloc Member, MP Anwar el-Khalil, stated Saturday that "the internal and regional challenges render the new government a national necessity," considering that "there is no justification for any delay in its formation."
"Priority should be given to the ministerial statement and the government's program of action, for we are at a stage where we are faced with internal and regional challenges that require national consensus," he added.
El-Khalil's words came before popular delegations from the Southern towns of Hasbaya, Mimes, Fardis, Ibil el-Saqi and Kfar Hamem who visited him earlier today.
"Economic advancement and the development of a program that helps the country overcome its public debts, as well as the decisions of the Cedar Conference I necessitate national consensus to define and identity the headlines of said advancement," he went on.
"The fight against the rampant corruption also needs national consensus," el-Khalil added, noting that "the various reforms stipulated in the Lebanese Constitution must be implemented, which calls for a national dialogue that would yield a clear road map."
"The upcoming government should give priority to the adoption of productive development programs for rural areas, especially the support of the industrial and agricultural sectors," he concluded.
