Why You Should Avoid Drinking Tea or Coffee on a Plane
Regardless of where you are travelling to, an early morning flight isn't fun at the best of times.
The one thing that can make it a little more bearable is a free cup of coffee on board the plane, although you might want to think twice about that.
The Mirror reports via a VICE story that the water that is served with your coffee or tea is the same water that is used for the toilets.
The anonymous flight attendant told Vice : "Coffee. Don’t drink the coffee on airplanes. It’s the same potable water that goes through the bathroom system. "
It's not toilet water in the sense that it's been flushed, but it all comes from the same place.
If you thought it couldn't get any worse, think again.
They then claimed: "We recently had a test for E. coli in our water and it didn’t pass, and then maintenance came on and hit a couple buttons and it passed. So, avoid any hot water or tea. Bottled and ice is fine, of course."
Considering they also described the plane bathrooms as "the most disgusting places on the planet", it might be worth just paying for an airport coffee once you're all checked in
