Menassa meets UN's Plasschaert, calls for international pressure to halt Israeli violations
Minister of National Defense Michel Menassa received the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, at his Yarzeh office.

The meeting reportedly touched on ways to strengthen and activate the work of the Committee for Supervising the Cessation of Hostilities (the Mechanism), in support of the efforts made by Lebanon in this regard.

Hennis-Plasschaert affirmed that “the United Nations continues to support Lebanon, strengthen its stability, and support its national institutions," noting "the importance of strengthening existing cooperation between the two sides in various fields."

For his part, Minister Menassa affirmed “the continued close cooperation between the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL forces in implementing UN Resolution 1701, at a time when the Israeli occupation continues its repeated violations of this resolution.”

Major General Menassa also stressed "the need to exert international pressure on the Israeli occupation to abide by the agreement reached in November 2024, withdraw from the sites it still occupies, and put an end to its ongoing violations of Lebanese sovereignty."
