The Lebanese General Security issued a statement on Saturday, categorically denying a recently circulated report by the Human Rights Watch Organization accusing the General Security's General Directorate of compulsorily deporting a number of Syrians to their country via Rafic Hariri International Airport, and forcing them to sign what they called "Forms of Voluntary Repatriation".
"The General Directorate of the General Security categorically denies forcing Syrians to sign any form," the statement asserted.
It clarified that any person, regardless of his/her nationality, when arriving at Rafic Hariri International Airport to enter Lebanon and is found not to meet the entry requirements, has to return to the country he/she is coming from.
"Every Syrian who arrives in Lebanon and does not meet the conditions of entry, and voluntarily requests to go to Syria for not wishing to return to his country of residence due to several reasons, is asked to sign a pledge of responsibility for choosing to return voluntarily, and his return is facilitated by the General Security's General Directorate," the statement added.
It concluded by underlining that the General Security is in constant coordination and cooperation with all international organizations concerned.
