Hezbollah Chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered a speech on Resistance and Liberation Day, and after congratulating the Lebanese on the occasion, he announced that “today we celebrate two great victories, the 25th of May 2000 in Lebanon and the 21st of May 2021 in Gaza,” congratulating the Palestinian people, the leaders of the Resistance, the Palestinian fighters and the people who suffered, on their victory but expressed their purity and originality.
Nasrallah emphasized that "victory was achieved by the grace of God and the tremendous sacrifices on May 25, and that the sacrifices took place as a result of the accumulation of many years that included many Lebanese and factions of the Palestinian Resistance, as well as the martyrs of the Lebanese army, the martyrs of the Syrian army and their sacrifices in the 1982 invasion."
"The south was at the forefront of the fight, but the people of the Bekaa offered many martyrs, and the Bekaa always bore the consequences of its victory for the south, Beirut, the north and other regions, we recall the martyr leaders in this march, noting the official Lebanese position at that time represented by Presidents Emile Lahoud, Nabih Berri and Salim Al-Hoss, and the Lebanese government, affirming that this official position supported the Resistance, and led to May 25 being a liberation wedding and not a funeral," he added.
Nasrallah also praised "the Syrian support represented by late President Hafez Al-Assad at the time, which continued with President Bashar Al-Assad, as well as the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the Resistance and developing its capabilities."
He declared that this liberation "established a time for victories, and we have dedicated this victory in Bint Jbeil to Palestine, because hope and pain are there; the highest assessment of Israel's retreat was issued in year 2000 by Yitzhak Shamir," pointing out that "the role of armed popular Resistance is the same in Lebanon and in Gaza, and the enemy attempted to uproot these two bases, in Lebanon and Gaza, but it failed and was defeated, giving a new impetus to the Resistance, which is what manifested in 2006, and in Gaza 2008, 2012 and 2014."
