Mikati chairs meeting over national social protection strategy, welcomes Ghanaian Minister of Foreign Affairs

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati chaired at the Grand Serail a meeting by the ministerial committee tasked to develop an action plan for the implementation of a national social protection strategy, in the presence Caretaker Ministers of Education Abbas Halabi, Justice Henry Khoury, Finance Youssef Khalil, Social Affairs Hector Hajjar, Economy Amine Salam, and Health Firas Abiad.
In the wake of the meeting, Minister Hajjar stressed the paramount importance of "making changes to the May 2022 strategy,” noting that the “Lebanese will be the only ones to benefit from it, as all those who do not have a Lebanese nationality receive support from international institutions.”
Hajjar explained further that the draft had been completed and presented today to the Ministerial Committee.
“We have asked Ministers to comment on it, and we have until the 22nd of this month to complete and adopt it in the Council of Ministers".
On another level, Mikati met with Ministers Khoury and Hajjar with whom he discussed Syrian refugee affairs.
The Prime Minister also welcomed Ghanaian Minister of Foreign Affairs Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, with whom he discussed bilateral relations and the best means to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
