Lebanon’s New Era: General Joseph Aoun Elected President After Two-Year Vacuum

White smoke rose from the Parliament, and Army Commander General Joseph Aoun became the 14th President of the Lebanese Republic, following a presidential vacuum that lasted for over two years. 

He garnered the support of 99 MPs, while 9 MPs voted with blank ballots, 12 voted with a "sovereignty and constitution" ballot, Shibli Malat received two votes, and 5 ballots were declared invalid.
