Salam hosts US congressional delegation, emphasizes need for pressure on Israel

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam welcomed a delegation from the US Congress, led by Senator Darrell Issa, at the Grand Serail, in the presence of US Ambassador to Lebanon Lisa Johnson.
The delegation conveyed its congratulations to the Lebanese leadership and reaffirmed continued support for Lebanon across various sectors, alongside ongoing assistance for the Lebanese Army.
In response, Prime Minister Salam emphasized the importance of exerting US pressure on Israel to fully withdraw from the territories it still occupies, stressing that there is no military or security justification for the continued occupation.
Moreover, Salam underscored that this constitutes a persistent violation of the ceasefire arrangements, UN Resolution 1701, international law, and Lebanon's sovereignty.
