Environment Minister calls for strict action against illegal hunting

Environment Minister Tamara Elzein sent a letter to Interior Minister Ahmed Hajar, commending the Internal Security Forces (ISF) for arresting two individuals illegally hunting protected storks in Aarida, Akkar. She urged continued efforts to crack down on illegal bird hunting, especially as spring migration season begins.
Zain emphasized that the 2025/2026 hunting season has not been opened, making all forms of hunting strictly prohibited. She also requested North Lebanon’s environmental prosecutor, Judge Ghassan Bassil, to prosecute offenders following reports and a video showing mass stork hunting in Akkar.
