Morcos: Tele Liban is a private company and its appointments are not subject to administrative mechanisms

The office of Minister of Information Paul Morcos issued the following statement: "The Minister of Information would like to clarify to the public that proposing names to the board of directors of Tele Liban falls within the minister's powers under the law, noting that the final decision rests with the Council of Ministers as a whole."
The Minister also reiterated what he explained at the end of the Cabinet session last Thursday, that the Cabinet confirmed that appointments at Tele Liban are not included in the administrative appointments mechanism. He noted that Tele Liban is a private company subject to commercial law, not an official administration or public institution, and has its own system governed by decree.
"The law will always be the basis for the Minister of Information's work as a model for building Lebanon's institutions, as this requires concerted efforts and intentions and advancing media work to the desired level," the statement concluded.
