Former President Michel Sleiman said in an issued statement, "No matter how loud the victory chants, triumphant celebrations, and songs, the cries of pain remain the most sincere and powerful."
He added: "There is no victor among the warring parties; rather, victory is on the side of the third party, which stopped the war and proposed peace. There is no victor in wars; rather, there is one party that suffered the greatest loss."
Sleiman considered that "victory needs no announcement; it speaks for itself and appears to people with greater realism than perceived by the combatants themselves."
