Minister of Public Works visited Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, accompanied by Member of Parliament Faysal Sayegh.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Minister Rasamny said: “It is a great honor to be in this revered institution. Our visit may be somewhat delayed due to my commitments to administrative matters, but it was important for me to introduce myself personally, as this is my first official visit to His Eminence.”

Rasamny added that the meeting was an opportunity to brief the Mufti on the ministry’s current administrative priorities and developments.

“We’ve discussed a wide range of issues, including the latest developments, the challenges we face, and the opportunities that lie ahead. I also sought the Grand Mufti’s opinion on a number of key matters,” Rasamny noted, emphasizing that this visit would be the first of many.

When asked about the country’s prospects, Rasamny voiced hope: “Lebanon is undoubtedly heading toward a better future. Opportunities continue to emerge, and it is our responsibility to seize and build on them. There are several projects that are already in motion this year, and others that will come to light in due course. The upcoming summer season promises to be excellent, God willing.”

Responding to a question about the implementation of the ministry’s infrastructure projects, Rasamny confirmed: “A number of projects are currently being executed, and we are also planning for future initiatives, both annual and multi-year strategies. Some will be completed this year, while others are scheduled for the next. It’s important to note that our planning is not limited to our time in office. These strategies are designed to carry forward across future administrations through well-studied, long-term frameworks.”

Asked whether the ministry had secured financial backing for these plans, Rasamny stated: “We are working within the approved budget for the current year. In addition, we’ve received support from the State of Qatar for public transportation and avionics systems at the airport. It is also worth mentioning that several other countries are in the process of preparing additional assistance packages for Lebanon.”
