Moscow and its suburbs have been hit by heavy rainfall since early this morning, flooding several streets and pedestrian underpasses.
Weather experts indicate that the impact of the heavy rain and thunderstorms may continue in Moscow and its suburbs until this afternoon, with a likelihood of renewed downpours tomorrow, Tuesday. Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 21 and 26 degrees Celsius.
Videos circulating online show scenes of flooded roads in Moscow, with water levels reaching about 30 cm, causing traffic disruptions in several areas.
The effects of the heavy rain also extended to underground pedestrian tunnels, which were flooded in multiple parts of the city. On the Moscow–Mozhaysk highway, some residents were seen climbing over the surrounding fence in an attempt to avoid the pooled water that was hindering movement.
