Aoun broaches developments with visitors

President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, received at Baabda Palace, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Lebanon, Alaa Moussa, with whom he discussed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, in addition to the bilateral Egyptian-Lebanese relations.
Speaking to reporters on emerging, Ambassador Moussa said that "the meeting with President Aoun was an opportunity to exchange views on the events taking place in Lebanon and the region, and to congratulate him on Lebanon’s Army Day, and on the speech he delivered on the occasion.”
Ambassador Moussa added: "We also discussed the efforts being made by the Lebanese state to reach a clear path and plan to restrict the possession of weapons to the state, and to achieve political and economic reforms and security measures. His Excellency had many details and a clear vision, which I hope will be supported by the rest of the state institutions.”
In response to a question by media representatives, Ambassador Moussa hoped that the upcoming Cabinet session would come out with a positive outcome that serves Lebanon's interests.
President Aoun also received at Baabda palace, the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, who briefed him on the ongoing contacts to address the situation in Lebanon and the role of the United Nations in this regard.
The President of the Republic then received a delegation of Christian leagues, including Maronite League President Maroun Helou, the Secretary-General of the Orthodox Gathering former MP Marwan Abu Fadel, President of the "National Renewal" Charles Arbid, and Head of the Syriac League in Lebanon Habib Ephrem.
Following the meeting, Engineer Al-Helou spoke on behalf of the delegation, saying: “The visit to the President of the Republic comes on the occasion of Lebanon’s Army Day, which is the sole guarantor and protector of the people and the entity and the preserver of sovereignty and independence.” The delegation highly valued the content of the speech delivered by President Aoun on the occasion.
