Gebran Bassil: The diaspora is a true partner in decision-making

Free Patriotic Movement leader, MP Gebran Bassil, emphasized during a dinner hosted by the party's Diaspora Department that the reality of Lebanese diaspora is both painful due to emigration and a bright reality thanks to the global success of Lebanese expatriates.

He emphasized that "Lebanon cannot survive without its expatriates," describing them as the country's economic lifeline, especially today amid ongoing challenges.

He praised the role of expatriates in spreading Lebanese culture and traditions around the world.

The MP added: "Lebanon is a country that will not disappear,” questioning attempts to undermine it: “if the world cannot contain lebanon with its diaspora, do you want to shrink the 10,452 km²?” he concluded that lebanon is bigger than its territory and its crises.

He pointed out that “the expatriate is not an ATM, but a true partner in decision-making, and therefore, the state’s relationship with them needs to be redefined.”

Finally he addressed the expatriates, saying: “Lebanon is always waiting for you so we can turn pain into hope. Without you, Lebanon is not truly Lebanon.”
