Salam broaches developments with Darell Issa, itinerant visitors

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received at the Grand Serail, US Congressman Darrell Issa, in the presence of US Ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson, and Mr. Najad Fares, Vice President of the American Task Force for Lebanon (ATFL).
The discussion reportedly touched on the latest developments in Lebanon, in addition to the Lebanese-American relations.
Premier Salam also received at the Grand Serail, “Democratic Gathering” bloc MP Faisal Sayegh, and Zafer Nasser, the Secretary-General of the Progressive Socialist Party.
After the meeting, MP Sayegh said that they primarily raised with the Premier the issue of Syrian prisoners in Lebanese jails.
MP Sayegh also indicated that the visit was an opportunity to support and affirm the Democratic Gathering's position in support of the decisions taken by the government, particularly in the last two sessions, concerning sovereignty, and all steps related to reform.
Sayegh also affirmed the bloc’s support for the Prime Minister and his positions in this regard.
Separately, PM Salam met with MP Ihab Matar, who said after the meeting: "We value all the efforts made by Premier Salam and the crucial decisions taken by the government, especially regarding the issue of arms exclusivity and the possibility of its implementation,’ adding: “We also touched on the political situation and relations with Syria, in addition to the electoral law and the issue of expatriate voting."
Salam then received MP Nada Boustani and former MP Eddie Maalouf, with whom he discussed the general situation.
Additionally, the Premier received at the Grand Serail a delegation from the Arsal Municipality headed by Mayor Mounir al-Hujairi, who said after the meeting: “We presented Premier Salam with a memorandum of demands concerning the region and its people, the most important of which relates to the health and security conditions.”
The Prime Minister later received the new board of directors of the Rashid Karami International Fair, headed by its Chairman and Director General, Hani Al-Shaarani, in the presence of Minister of Economy and Trade, Amer Bisat, who paid him a protocol visit upon their appointment.
