Rasamny: Reopening Qlayaat Airport pillar for boosting north Lebanon’s economy, project awaits implementation

Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny affirmed during a speech delivered on Abdel Wahab Island in Tripoli that the city possesses “tremendous energy and capabilities” that make it a socio-economic model worth emulating across Lebanon.
“All it needs is stability to create job opportunities and ignite the engine of development,” Rasamny stated.
The Minister further underscored that the reactivation of René Moawad Airport in Qlayaatconstituted “a fundamental pillar for boosting commercial and tourism activity in the North,” noting that “the economic feasibility study for the airport has been completed, and the project now awaits the necessary executive steps for its reactivation.”
Rasamny went on to emphasize that the current government “is not one for rhetoric but for delivering tangible achievements,” revealing that “Tripoli is poised for several upcoming projects currently in preparation, which will help steer it toward a brighter future.”
The Minister also commended the dedication of Jumana Chahal, President of the Tripoli Heritage Association, and called for increased cooperation with individuals and institutions who work sincerely to preserve the city’s cultural and historical identity.
Rasamny finally urged the people of Tripoli and the North to “hold on to hope and unite in joint efforts,” asserting that “partnership between the state and society is the key to turning the region’s latent potential into a thriving reality worthy of this historic city.”
Earlier, Minister Rasamny joined Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, and Minister of Economy and Trade, Amer Bisat, on a tour of several key sites in Tripoli, including the Rachid Karami International Fair, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, the Port of Tripoli, and Abdel Wahab Island.
