MP Waddah Sadek stated that Hezbollah has "lost the promise of reclaiming Palestine, as well as deterrence, leadership, and its key symbol with the assassination of Nasrallah, and if Hezbollah also announces that it has lost its weapons, under what banner will it run in the parliamentary elections?"
In an interview with MTV, Sadek urged Hezbollah to "join the state, which has made the decision regarding weapons."
He stressed that "the government has taken key decisions," adding that "it was the state is the one that restored most of the south after the Israeli army’s entry, not Hezbollah’s weapons, which are no longer a guarantee but lead to destructive actions, and the Lebanese Army will fulfill its role."
Sadek reassured the public that "there will be no clashes on the ground. The situation is under control, and Speaker Nabih Berri was firm on this matter following a meeting with Hezbollah two days ago."
He underlined that "the government has fulfilled its responsibilities; UNIFIL is a peacekeeping force, not a combat force that need to play a deterrent role, and we will not allow the cancellation of expatriates’ right to vote."
