Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ambassador Hossam Zaki, emphasized that "the Arab League supports the idea of extending state authority over all its territory and keeping weapons exclusively under state control."
After meeting with President Joseph Aoun at Baabda Palace, Zaki said, "We call on the international powers to pressure Israel to withdraw from all Lebanese territories, and refrain from any actions that violate Lebanon’s sovereignty."
He added, "No one wants Lebanon to slip into harmful outcomes, and we hope that the issue will be wisely addressed, along with a vision in the country’s best interest to restore stability and civil peace."
Zaki also stressed that "the United States has a special responsibility regarding the ceasefire agreement, and we call on it to pressure Israel to fulfill its commitments under the ceasefire agreement."
