Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar announced the seizure of the largest quantity of cocaine smuggled into Lebanon in recent years.
He said at a press conference: “We seized the largest quantity of cocaine smuggled into Lebanon via a ship from Brazil to the port of Tripoli, hidden in ‘gallons’ of oils and fats,” noting that “there are two detainees in this operation, others involved are being pursued, and investigations are ongoing.”
Al-Hajjar expressed his thanks to Saudi Arabia for its efforts and coordination, adding: “We are working with all our energy and utmost capabilities, and we assure neighboring countries that we will not allow Lebanon to be a transit route for smuggling, whether into Lebanon or to any of the sister countries.”
