During his speech at the Arab Foreign Ministers' meeting, chaired by the UAE, UAE Minister of State Khalifa bin Shaheen Al Marar welcomed the Lebanese government's decision to restrict the possession of weapons to the state, describing it as "an important step in supporting stability."
At the regional level, he emphasized that "a just solution to the Palestinian issue can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent, sovereign state," calling for halting the process of displacement and settlement in Palestine.
Al-Marar indicated that his country participated in the two-state solution conference in New York, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, and joined the declaration issued therein, which constitutes an official document outlining a roadmap toward the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
He explained that "the growing momentum for recognition of a Palestinian state must be built upon by mobilizing greater international support, not only to stop the war in Gaza, but also to provide unhindered life-saving humanitarian aid and strop the process of displacement and annexation."
"Effective international pressure is required to return the Palestinians, led by the Palestine Liberation Organization, and the Israelis to the negotiating table, in order to reach a just, comprehensive, and sustainable solution," Al Marar asserted.
He emphasized the importance of unifying the narrative of peace, rejecting extremism, and combating terrorism, noting that "the UAE is playing an active role in this area, both through its leadership of the humanitarian effort in the Gaza Strip and by employing its political tools to create a conducive environment for negotiations," according to "Sky News Arabia".
