Energy Ministry authorizes offloading of fuel shipment

The Ministry of Energy authorized the unloading of the “Hawk III” tanker, carrying Fuel Oil B for Electricité du Liban (EDL), after laboratory tests confirmed the fuel met required specifications. The tests were conducted at international labs in Dubai (Bureau Veritas), Greece (Letrina), and Italy (Amspec).
This move addresses EDL’s urgent need for fuel, scheduled for delivery before September 8 to prevent a nationwide blackout. The ministry had filed a report on the shipment to the Public Prosecutor's office on August 25, which continues to investigate the matter. The decision to offload ensures the protection of state rights and contractual guarantees.
