Rasamny from Qlayaat Airport: Contracting to begin in 2026

Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny visited Qlayaat Airport, accompanied by a delegation from the region’s economic bodies headed by former minister, Mohammad Choucair, and joined by the Mufti of Tripoli and North Lebanon, Sheikh Mohammad Imam, the Mufti of Akkar, Sheikh Dr. Zeid Bakkar Zakaria, the Mayor of Qlayaat, Abdul Razzaq Khashfa, the Mayor of Tal, Hayat Khodr Khaled, along with a wide gathering of community leaders and dignitaries.
From the airport’s runway, Rasamny announced that “the awarding of contracts for works at the airport will begin at the start of 2026,” noting that “since the beginning of the current government, there has been a firm resolve by both the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister to operationalize and activate the airport, given its importance for the North and for Lebanon’s economy as a whole.”
Rasamny concluded: “Today’s visit came at the kind initiative and invitation of the economic bodies. I have visited this airport several times, and with each visit my conviction grows stronger in the importance of this facility and the necessity of placing it into service to benefit the North and all of Lebanon.”
