Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence Kamal Shehadi wrote on his X account:
"The government has approved a comprehensive plan presented by the Lebanese Army Commander to restrict the possession of weapons to the Lebanese Republic and its own forces in phases. The government will also monitor the implementation of the plan through monthly reports. The plan is sound and represents an important strategic step that has not been taken in Lebanon in recent decades."
He added: "We highly value the plan as part of our efforts to build a sovereign and free republic. We also reiterate our unwavering confidence in the military institution. There is no turning back from extending the authority of the constitution, the law, and the republic across all Lebanese territory."
