Mohammad Mustafa, the prime minister of the Palestinian Authority (PA), has met separately with representatives from Canada and the Netherlands about the organisation’s role in the future of Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
In the meetings held in Ramallah in the West Bank, he also discussed the UN General Assembly meeting this month, during which many Western allies of Israel, including Canada, have said they will officially recognise a Palestinian state.
The Wafa news agency reported that Mustafa talked about the reconstruction of Gaza as well.
At the same time, PA President Mahmoud Abbas is in London on a three-day visit at the invitation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The diplomatic movements come as the PA has pledged to reform itself to receive Western backing to take leadership of a future Palestinian state.
