Aoun receives invitation to attend canonization of Armenian bishop in Vatican

President of the Republic Joseph Aoun welcomed His Holiness Catholicos Patriarch Raphael Pedros XXI Minassian of the Armenian Catholic Church at Baabda Palace. During the meeting, Patriarch Minassian presented President Aoun with an official invitation to attend the celebratory Mass at the Vatican, where Pope Leo XIV will officially declare the martyr Bishop Blessed Ignatius Maloyan as a saint on October 19th.
President Aoun congratulated the Armenian Catholic community in Lebanon and around the world on this momentous occasion, recalling the profound faith and sacrifice of the martyred bishop, who gave his life for his beliefs. He emphasized that this significant spiritual event is not only meaningful to the Armenian community but to all Lebanese, both within the country and in the diaspora.
The president noted that the canonization of Bishop Maloyan will add to the intercession of other Lebanese saints in praying for Lebanon and its people, especially during this Jubilee Year of Hope celebrated by the Church.
