Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced on X that he chaired a meeting at the Grand Serail dedicated to tackling Beirut’s mounting waste crisis.

At the conclusion of the session, several measures were adopted: clear instructions for residents to respect waste disposal schedules; an increase in the number of bins across the capital; assigning municipal police to monitor and curb scavenging; and banning the dumping of carcasses and animal remains outside designated areas, with enforcement actions to follow.

The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Ahmad al-Hajjar, ISF Director General Maj. Gen. Raed Abdallah, Beirut Police Chief Brig. Gen. Imad Al-Jammal, Beirut Governor Judge Marwan Abboud, and Beirut Municipality President Ibrahim Zeidan, alongside senior representatives from Ramco, the waste management company.
