The Lebanese Army – Directorate of Guidance issued the following statement:
As part of ongoing security measures and efforts to combat drug trafficking, an army unit, supported by a patrol from the Intelligence Directorate, raided the homes of wanted individuals in the towns of Dar Al-Wasayeh and Al-Yamouna in Baalbek. The operation resulted in the arrest of the Lebanese citizen Z.J. and the Syrian national H.A.
During the raids, the forces came under gunfire and returned fire; no injuries were reported. The unit seized a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, drug-manufacturing equipment, and a significant amount of drugs. Additionally, the team destroyed 25 dunums of cannabis fields and dismantled the agricultural tents used for cultivation in Dar Al-Wasayeh.
All seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities, and investigations into the detainees are underway under the supervision of the competent judiciary. Efforts continue to apprehend the remaining suspects involved.
