Prime Minister Nawaf Salam inaugurated the new office of Qatar Charity in Lebanon at a ceremony held at the Grand Serail, in the presence of former PM Tammam Salam, Deputy PM Tarek Mitri, several ministers, MPs, ambassadors, and senior officials.

Qatar’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, hailed the opening as a symbol of solidarity and humanitarian partnership, noting Qatar’s longstanding support for Lebanon and its people. Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Charity, underscored the organization’s mission of sustainable development, highlighting that more than 483,000 people in Lebanon have benefited from its projects since the 1990s. He announced plans for over 70 new initiatives targeting nearly 400,000 Lebanese and refugees.

In his address, PM Salam strongly condemned the recent Israeli strike on Qatar, calling it a violation of sovereignty and international law. He praised the outcomes of the Doha Arab-Islamic Summit, reaffirmed Lebanon’s commitment to peace based on the Arab Peace Initiative, and stressed the importance of coordinated Arab and international pressure on Israel.

Salam described the office opening as more than an administrative step, but a “clear sign of Lebanon-Qatar friendship,” and called for institutionalized cooperation to translate humanitarian efforts into sustainable development projects.

The ceremony concluded with Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser Al Thani presenting a commemorative shield to PM Salam in appreciation.
