A criminal case has been opened in the Novosibirsk Region over the partial collapse of the secondary school No. 5 in the city of Tatarsk. This was announced on September 21 by the regional directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
"On September 21 of this year, in the morning, the building of secondary school No. 5 partially collapsed in the city of Tatarsk. <...> A criminal case has been opened," the department's Telegram channel said.
It is noted that an investigative team went to the scene. The UK plans to conduct a forensic construction examination to determine the degree of structural wear and the causes of the collapse. The necessary documentation has been seized from the educational institution, and the timing and quality of the repairs are being checked.
According to the Ministry of Education of the Novosibirsk region, school building No. 5 was built in 1937. There were no people in the building at the time of the collapse, and there were no injuries.
"Before the start of the school year, the administration of the Tatar Municipal District accepted the school as ready to receive students. At the moment, the emergency situations commission of the municipal district is working at the scene," the press service of the regional Ministry said in its Telegram channel.
As specified, the decision on the future of the building will be made after an examination by a licensed organization. On behalf of Governor Andrey Travnikov, the Minister of Education of the region, Maria Zhafyarova, was sent to the scene of the incident. In addition, the authorities decided that from September 22, all 210 students of School No. 5 will be transferred to school No. 9, which is located nearby.
"According to the State Program of the Novosibirsk region "Development of education, creation of conditions for the socialization of children and students in the Novosibirsk region", a 550—seat school building is being built in Tatarsk," the ministry concluded.
The collapse of the school building No. 5 in Tatarsk was reported earlier in the morning. It was clarified that the notification of the incident was received at about 10:40 a.m. local time (6:40 a.m. Moscow time). There are no casualties.
