President Joseph Aoun is set to begin his meetings at UN headquarters in New York this afternoon (7:00 pm Beirut time) with heads of state and delegations attending the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, marking the 80th anniversary of the organization’s founding. Talks will focus on developments in Lebanon and the region, as well as bilateral relations.

On Monday evening (New York time), the President met with a group of Lebanese business leaders who raised issues including IMF negotiations, the situation in the South, infrastructure, digital transformation, internet access, and diaspora voting. Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi, Lebanon’s Ambassador to Washington Nada Hamadeh Moawad, and presidential adviser Rouaa Harati attended the meeting.

President Aoun stressed that Lebanon’s return to its regional role depends on restoring investor confidence through financial, economic, and judicial reforms to ensure stability. He urged the diaspora to invest in Lebanon, noting that the groundwork is in place for their engagement. Participants voiced appreciation for the President’s vision and reaffirmed their support for Lebanon.
