Minister of Public Works Fayez Rasamny held a press conference on the Dbayeh Highway, in fron of City Furniture, at one of the critical spots prone to rainwater accumulation. The minister presented the ministry’s plan and awareness campaign, highlighting the role of partner agencies in addressing the challenges of the winter season. The event was attended by a delegation from the Council for Development and Reconstruction, several MPs, and representatives from the Ministries of Interior and Energy, as well as other stakeholders.

Rasamny emphasized that “sewage water is mixing with rainwater, and citizens must hold themselves accountable and cease the indiscriminate dumping of waste on the roads, particularly before winter.”

He added that contractors have been assigned with maintaining and monitoring the roads throughout the winter, and the ministry has launched awareness campaigns for citizens while requesting some companies to take additional measures.

The minister noted that “all relevant ministries are cooperating in the work, but we must recognize that the state’s capabilities are limited and municipalities do not have sufficient resources; we also need to support them.”

“We are fulfilling all our duties,” Rasamny continued, “but this does not mean we will not face challenges, as they are far greater than us. Cooperation is the key theme of this stage.”

He also called on municipalities to “intensify awareness campaigns and enforce regulations to reduce the practice of littering on the roads.”
