Geagea broaches latest developments with British Ambassador

Lebanese Forces Party leader Samir Geagea received in Maarab, British Ambassador to Lebanon Hamish Cowell, accompanied by Second Secretary Philippa Giles and Political Advisor Ghadi Daou.
The meeting was also attended by the Party’s foreign relations apparatus’ Head, former Minister Richard Kouyoumjian, and Perla Salibi from LF foreign relations department.
Talks reportedly touched on the latest political and security developments.
For his part, Geagea affirmed that “the Lebanese people as a whole stand firmly behind the Lebanese Army in support of its mission as mandated by the government,” stressing “the importance of upholding the government’s decision on the exclusive authority over arms and the elimination of all illegal weapons as a prerequisite for moving toward genuine reform and the building of a functioning state.”
The meeting also addressed a range of issues, foremost among them the upcoming parliamentary elections, where the Lebanese Forces leader reiterated his insistence that the polls be held on schedule and rejected any postponement of this constitutional entitlement.
