Salam chairs meeting over Karantina dossier

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received at the Grand Serail, a delegation from the European People's Party (EPP) comprising European parliamentarians and political activists, in the presence of representatives from the Kataeb and Lebanese Forces parties.
The meeting reportedly addressed regional developments and political and economic updates in Lebanon, in addition to the Lebanese government's reform action plan and its decisions to restrict weapons and extend state authority across all its territory.
The delegation members expressed that they "see new hope in Lebanon," affirming their support for the government's reform and sovereign path, and their readiness to support Lebanon in a way that serves its stability and enhances its capabilities.
For his part, Premier Salam stressed "the need to pressure Israel to halt its attacks on Lebanon, withdraw from the territories it still occupies, and fully adhere to the cessation of hostilities arrangements."
Salam also stressed "the importance of the New York Declaration to stop the war in Gaza and revive the two-state solution process, leading to a just and comprehensive solution in the region."
Separately, Premier Salam chaired a meeting devoted to discussing the Karantina landfill, attended by Minister of Environment Tamara El Zein, European Union Ambassador to Lebanon Sandra de Waal, UNDP Resident Representative Blerta Aliko, Beirut Governor Marwan Abboud, Head of the Council for Development and Reconstruction Mohammad Ali Qabbani, and Beirut Municipality Head Ibrahim Zeidan, as well as a number of municipal council members and stakeholders.
