The Ministries of Finance, Labor, and State for Administrative Development jointly launched Lebanon’s new E-Payment Gateway, unveiled during a press conference at the Ministry of Labor with Ministers Yassine Jaber, Fadi Makki, and Mohammad Haidar.
Minister Haidar described the initiative as a “major step toward modernizing services,” enabling citizens to complete transactions and pay fees online. Finance Minister Jaber confirmed that agreements with banks will soon allow card payments across all ministries, reducing the need for cash. Minister Makki highlighted the digital shift, noting that half of the 67 services offered by the Labor Ministry are now integrated, with nearly 60% of e-payments successfully processed.
Makki underscored that the reform aims to “make public services faster, simpler, and more transparent,” through digitization of records, adoption of electronic stamps, and expanded online services. Haidar also announced that the Labor Ministry will soon provide card-payment machines on-site for non-digital transactions, eliminating the need for paper stamps.
The ministers emphasized that the project not only modernizes administration but also curbs corruption and restores public trust in state institutions.
Later, Minister Haidar received Jordan’s Ambassador, Walid Hadid, for talks on strengthening bilateral relations.
